Finding Records

To find records quickly in SalesNOW, the system has a quick find option at the bottom of each records list. To use this feature, start by clicking on the appropriate tab - such as Contacts, Companies, Leads or Deals - to display the list of records. To find a specific contact, for example, click on the Contacts tab. Notice that the list of contacts is sorted alphabetically by first name by default.

To save time locating Mike Macdonald's contact record, instead of scrolling down through all of my contacts until I reach Mike Macdonald, I can do the following:

  1. Start typing Mike Macdonald's name

  2. Notice that my typed letters appear on the bottom row next to Find:

  3. As I type Mike for example, the system will automatically filter out contact records with a first name, last name or company name starting with Mike

  4. Once I have located Mike's contact record, I can click the trackball to open his record.

  5. When I return to the contacts list, to view all contacts, I can type the backspace key to remove Mike from the find bar, and all of my contacts will be displayed.

Note: The find feature will be based on the Records Sort, discussed in the Sorting Records section. So, for example, if I sort my contacts by City Name, the find feature will look up alphabetically by City Name (instead of by contact name).
