Creating Call Logs

SalesNOW allows you to create call logs following incoming or outgoing phone calls. Unlike a SalesNOW scheduled call, which is synchronized with your BlackBerry calendar (see Scheduling Calls), SalesNOW call logs are not synchronized with your BlackBerry calendar and do not provide the option to invite a contact to attend the call.

To create a call log within SalesNOW on the Web, follow these steps:

  1. In the main tab menu or from anywhere within the application, click the Calls tab

  2. Click on create call log at the top right of the call list

  3. Enter the call log's information. Type the subject of the call in the mandatory Subject field. Press the TAB key to move to the next field or click the mouse in the field that you would like to complete

  4. To associate the call to a specific contact,

    1. Select an existing contact by clicking the magnifying glass image\ebx_-752130004.gif next to the contact field and clicking on the contact name to which you would like to associate. (Note: the contact is associated with a company, that company will automatically be associated to the call as well.)

    2. Add a new contact by clicking the green plus sign image\ebx_-580437850.gifand entering the contact information and clicking save and close

  5. To associate the call to a specific company,

    1. Select an existing company by clicking the magnifying glass image\ebx_-752130004.gif and clicking on the company name to which you would like to associate

    2. Add a new company by clicking the green plus sign image\ebx_-580437850.gifand entering the company information and clicking save and close

  6. To associate the call to a specific lead or deal,

    1. Select either Lead or Deal in the left drop-down box.

    2. Select an existing lead/deal by clicking the magnifying glass image\ebx_-752130004.gif and clicking on the lead/deal name to which you would like to associate. By default, the system displays only the leads/deals that are associated with that contact or company. If you would like to remove that filter, click on the Filter box at the top right of the selection box and click Remove Filter.

  7. Select the phone number related to the call from the drop down list (which is populated from the phone numbers stored on the contact's record).

  8. Select the call type, status, priority, and date/time/duration of the call.

  9. Enter the call notes in the Confidential Notes field which stores your private notes from the call.

  10. Enter any custom information related to the call. (Note the custom bar will not appear if there are no custom fields that have been added on the call document by your SalesNOW Administrator. See Customizing SalesNOW)

  11. Click Save & Close to save this call log and display this call record, or

  12. Click Save & New to save this call log and start entering a new call log, or

  13. Click Cancel to not save this call log and return to the calls list.

Note: Call logs can be created directly from a Contact, Company, Lead or Deal record. Simply click the other dropdown at the top right of the record and select create call log.
